We've probably worked with someone just like you.
You might be dealing with one of these.
-
We had a business case. The numbers just didn't stack up. We shelved it.
The project made sense. The quotes didn't. Now the economics of software have shifted significantly, it may be worth a second look.
-
We know what we want to build. We just need a team that really gets it.
The vision is clear internally. What's harder is finding a partner who'll invest the time to understand it - and push back when something doesn't add up.
-
Our system works. But we're nervous about touching it.
It's ageing, nobody fully understands it anymore, and any attempt to modernise feels like it could unravel something important.
-
Existing tools almost fit.
Off-the-shelf gets you 80% there. But the 20% gap is the part that matters most to your business.
The usual next step is to get some quotes. Write a brief, send it out, sit through a few presentations. It's a reasonable process - but it tends to answer the wrong question. That's because you get proposals in before the problem is properly understood.
We think the conversation should come first. And that's what a working session with MadeCurious is. Sixty to ninety minutes with senior people who've spent 25 years building complex digital products across New Zealand. No pitch, no agenda. Just a clear-eyed look at your problem and an honest view of what to do next.
Why MadeCurious
We've been doing this since 2001. Over 200 organisations, more than 1,700 digital products, from early web builds to complex national platforms. We ask uncomfortable questions, we challenge assumptions, and we'll tell you when something isn't the right call. The senior people you meet at the start are the people who build your product with you. No salespeople, no bait-and-switch, no juniors parachuted in mid-project.
- ISO 27001 Information Security Certified

Here's what some of our partners have to say.
-
"I've had vendors over-promise and under-deliver. I prefer under-promise and over-deliver. I'd rather hear 'no, you can't do this' than have it blow out later."
IT Lead, NZ Private Enterprise
-
"We now have the peace of mind that there's not a one-man band behind the product. The risk has been completely removed in my mind. We own everything. We're working with a reliable partner, everything is documented and we can keep pushing forward."
IT Lead, NZ Private Enterprise

The commitments made during the sales process were successfully achieved during the project. They put the customer first and worked in an agile and iterative manner that allowed us to be confident the solution being built would be fit for purpose.
Senior Project Manager, NZ Public Sector
What happens in a working session
No pitch. No obligation. Just clarity.
We listen - to where you are, to what you're trying to achieve, to what's blocking you.
We challenge - asking the questions others don't, to make sure we're solving the right problem.
We explore - we'll give all the options airtime. Maybe it's build, maybe it's buy, perhaps it's adapt - or stop and rethink. All options on the table.
We land - you'll leave with clear direction and a next move. Not a proposal, not a pitch deck. Just good honest advice on what we think should come next.
When you book a working session, you'll speak directly with a senior member of our team, not a salesperson. Bring us the problem you're wrestling with. We'll help you think through your options, pressure-test your brief, and get clear on the right next move.
No obligation. No hard sell. Just a conversation.
FAQ
-
How long is a working session?
Approximately 60 to 90 minutes. In person in Christchurch or online, whichever works for you. We'll get further on the day if you feel comfortable sharing a little context before we meet.
-
Who should attend?
Whoever is leading or sponsoring the project. If there are multiple stakeholders involved in the decision, it can be useful to bring them too.
-
What if we're very early in the process?
Early is exactly when we're most useful. The clearer the thinking at the start, the better the outcome. And the less expensive any course corrections become.
-
Is there a cost?
No. The working session is complimentary. We believe helping you think clearly about the problem is the best way to show you how we work and build the kind of trust this work requires.
-
What kinds of problems do you usually work on?
Our sweet spot is custom software solutions for medium to large enterprises - organisations that care about quality. Usually that means projects between $500K and $2M, running six months to two years. We support a wide range of sectors and industries.
-
Shouldn't I go with a larger firm for a project this size?
Larger firms bring larger teams, more process, and often more overhead. What they rarely bring is a tight-knit group of senior people who stay in the room throughout. At MadeCurious, the people you meet at the start are the people who’ll build your product with you.
